Hotel Ritz Paris

The Ritz Paris is one of the most luxurious places to stay, when in Paris. The limestone façade of this hotel is one of Paris’ most famous landmarks. The 300-year-old palace originally built for the Duc de Lauzun, made into a hotel by Cesar Ritz, in the year 1898, remains as grand as ever. Owned by Mohammed Al Fayed since 1979, the Ritz Paris is a destination for the rich and famous from across the globe. A huge renovation is on the cards, with millions invested, in a bid to restore the hotel to match the lavish opulence of an 18-century palace. Today there is a new updated Ritz to enthrall you, with new technology, and new restaurants.

The Ritz’s redesigned rooms have a modern sensibility, yet are traditionally French. The gilt, moldings and crystal chandeliers along with the Ritz invention - lit closets are opulent without being fussy. Today’s modern touches add Plasma TV, modern sound systems and Wi-Fi internet. The TV sets are etched into huge gold-leaf frames and look more like paintings in line with the lavish motif of the hotel.

The Ritz also boasts of the most expensive hotel beds in the world (as per Ritz). They are special Sealy's covered with accompaniment of seven pillows, covered with Italian silk satin sheets and headboards in gold-leaf. The rooms themselves are not huge, starting at 325 square feet, while suites can easily triple that size, and explore luxury that only the Ritz could, as the Imperial Suite's bed based on Marie Antoinette's, a personal wine cellar and a cosmetics fridge.

The pool in the hotel is extravagant, outfitted with frescoes, mosaics and a painted ceiling. The new updated global menus in the restaurants, speak volumes of the change that Ritz has seen over the years, including the menu at The Bar Hemingway, which now features a tapas menu. Espadon, at Ritz, serves the one and only gourmet 6-course vegetarian tasting menu in France, matched with the right wines. The Ritz is truly the place to be in Paris.
